BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) individuals face various systemic barriers and inequities that make it harder for them to access and succeed in college. These challenges can be attributed to historical and ongoing racial discrimination, socioeconomic disparities, and limited access to quality education.

Note: On June 29, 2023, the Supreme Court ruled that Harvard and the University of North Carolina's admissions policy violated the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment, now impacting affirmative action at all colleges.
