The nonprofit organization presents evidence of strategic thinking and goal setting through sharing their most important strategic goals.
Goal One: BEF’s IVF Grant Program was created in response to the reproductive challenges faced by many individuals with CF. BEF’s Financial Hardship Assistance Program to support CF families in achieving stability during financial crises. With many living longer with CF, BEF's advocacy efforts have added colorectal cancer, advanced lung disease, and bone and kidney health to its priorities.
Goal Two: As life-extending treatments continue to improve outcomes for those with CF, BEF has adapted to meet the community's evolving needs. While the organ transplant grant program and hospital bag initiative are now less critical, we have redirected resources to impactful initiatives such as IVF grants, financial hardship assistance, academic scholarships, and expanded advocacy efforts.
Goal Three: BEF’s patient advocacy platform amplifies the CF community’s voice to promote affordable, equitable healthcare, innovative treatments, and patient rights. Initiatives include education and advocacy campaigns centering on issues like developing treatments for antimicrobial resistance, incentivizing medical innovation, championing the value of medicines, and accessing equitable diagnoses.
