Vision

ACC’s mission to end animal homelessness in NYC has three pillars: Expanding Care; Increasing Access to Care; Inspiring Hope for Individuals and their pets, and all Homeless Animals. As NYC’s only open admission sheltering organization we never turn an animal or individual in need away. We are redefining the future of animal welfare in NYC where every animal has a home, and where every home that wants an animal has the support and services it needs to create and maintain a safe and nourishing environment that nourishes the human- animal bond.

Goals

1. 1.ACC seeks the best outcome for the most animals. ACC never turns any animal away from its shelters. Our placement strategy through adoption, foster and rescue aims to achieve the goal of the best outcome through these three placement options for the nearly 20,000 animals we take in annually. Since 2018 we have consistently placed 90% or more of the pets in our care.
2. 2.Respect and maintain the human-animal bond by offering surrender prevention support -- Our Community Pets Program offers resources to pet owners throughout the five boroughs with everything from medical care, to tenant advocacy, free vaccine and wellness clinics to free pet food from our food pantry so their animal family member will thrive.
3. 3.Expand our service offerings and impact in both scope and equity throughout NYC. Through multiple outreach programs across all five boroughs ACC that seeks out areas of greatest need
