Docs In Progress envisions a world where everyone has the opportunity, tools, and confidence to tell their story through documentary film—amplifying diverse voices, building inclusive communities, and inspiring meaningful dialogue across generations and cultures.

Goals

1. 1.Broaden the reach of our programs to serve more underrepresented communities, including BIPOC youth, people with disabilities, and low-income residents in Montgomery County and the broader DMV area. This includes increasing the number of free or low-cost workshops, enhancing accessibility tools and practices, and deepening partnerships with schools and community organizations.
2. 2.Invest in the growth and stability of the organization by expanding staff, improving technology infrastructure, and diversifying funding streams. Priorities include securing multi-year funding, developing board leadership, and implementing systems that support long-term operational efficiency and program impact measurement.
3. 3.Enhance the visibility and impact of local stories by expanding programs like Village Reels and public screenings. This goal focuses on using documentary film to foster civic dialogue, preserve community history, and build connections across generations and cultures. It also includes developing platforms (in-person and digital) that elevate the work of emerging filmmakers to broader audiences.
