Friends of Oakland Animal Services

Mission

OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE HOMES, HEALTH, AND HAPPINESS TO OAKLAND'S ANIMALS IN NEED. OUR PRIMARY FOCUS HAS BEEN TO FUND PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES AT OAKLAND ANIMAL SERVICES TO GREATLY INCREASE LIFESAVING OF SHELTER ANIMALS.

Vision

While funding from the City of Oakland for Oakland Animal Services diminishes, FOAS seeks to sustain and grow its lifesaving programs to save shelter animals and help people keep their pets.

Goals

1.Since this program was launched in 2020, intake for dogs at Oakland Animal Services has increased by nearly 40%, making it essential that the foster program grow significantly to eliminate euthanasia of adoptable dogs due to a lack of kennel space in the shelter.
2.While FOAS has a very dedicated donor base, we know there are many more people in our community who care about saving shelter animals but don't know what role they can play in doing so. Reaching more people and growing the financial resources of the organization will lead directly to more animal lifesaving.
