Mission

Environmental problems are threatening every aspect of life on Earth. AFOSA is a nature conservation-driven nonprofit organization focused on understanding problems and finding solutions. AFOSA 1) studies wild plants and animals occupying open space, 2) communicates what is learned, and 3) strives to insure continued existence of healthy ecosystems. Wild creatures form systems that protect and enrich soil, filter air and water, and efficiently utilize solar energy and the Earth's surface materials. Aldo Leopold claimed wild plants and animals must receive the same level of concern we give to members of our own species. Without equality, wild creatures inevitably receive treatment they cannot survive. We believe that our survival depends on theirs. AFOSA requires its staff, contributors, and contractors avoid ideological and political bias.
