We envision a state where all companion animals have safe, long-term homes and where feral cats are valued and protected.

Goals

1. 1.During a national veterinary shortage, IHA’s primary spay/neuter surgeon retired, drastically reducing surgical capacity. Hiring proficient and/or training high-volume surgeons became our primary focus to maintain self-sustainment within our business model. Our organization decreased our service radius and targeted our impact on the clients most in need of our services within our community.
2. 2.During our veterinary shortage, we maintained our core team members and focused on our primary program, IHA’s Spay/Neuter Clinic. Our efforts now focus on hiring support staff to increase our surgical capacity and facilitate access to our secondary existing programs. Services would be expanded to community cat colony managers, targeted under-resourced neighborhoods, and to rescue partners.
3. 3.We are increasing our grant submissions to address the lost revenue that occurred during onboarding of veterinarians. We are gathering community support through IHA’s Endowment Challenge Fund at the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation and diversifying our investment portfolio to ensure greater financial sustainability.
