Joppa

Mission

Joppa helps homeless people survive, find housing and rebuild their lives. Our mission is to create communities of unconditional love, support and hope for the homeless, as we work together to end homelessness.

Vision

A future where every person experiencing homelessness is seen, loved, supported and able to move off the streets into lasting stability.

Goals

1.Develop Joppa Village, a permanent supportive housing community of affordable Cottage Homes for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness, adding a new housing option in Des Moines specifically designed to help this population successfully move off the streets and into stable housing.
2.Strengthen Joppa’s organizational capacity by adding and developing key staff, expanding our annual campaign structure, improving systems and continuing to grow Thriftmart as a scalable source of earned revenue and mission support.
3.Expand Joppa’s outreach, housing support, aftercare, Resource Center and client advocacy work to serve more people, improve outcomes and build the operational strength needed to scale proven elements of the model over time, including future replication in other communities.
