Before we became a sanctuary and stopped rescuing in January 2022, our intake focus had been on accepting animals belonging to individuals who were facing difficult life situations such as terminal illness. Our goal was to prevent these animals from entering the slaughter pipeline and to ease the minds of owners who could no longer care for their beloved animals. Some of those animals were not chosen by adopters; most of them have health issues. We honor our commitment to the animals and their people to love and protect these horses and donkeys for life.
