Vision

The Friends of Washington Crossing Park will focus on enhancing the visitor experience in advance of the Semiquincentennial celebrations. By 2026, the Park will be an exciting destination for audiences from around the region and around the world. Local families will routinely visit to enjoy fun, educational experiences together. History enthusiasts from near and far will make the Park part of their American Revolution-themed travel, appreciating the role that Washington’s Crossing played in both American and world history. When those visitors arrive, they will find a Park that brings the 18th century to life using both the best of modern technology and time-honored personal engagement strategies. Interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, living history, and events allow people to truly engage with the story of the Crossing and its relevance today. The Park’s well-preserved and interpreted historic buildings and sites allow visitors to walk in the footsteps of history every day.

Goals

1. 1.Enhance the visitor experience, bringing the Park’s historical value forward in engaging and educational ways.
2. 2.Preserve the Park’s structures to appropriate historic preservation standards, and ensure that they are well-used on a regular basis.
3. 3.Increase the organizational capacity of the Friends, so that we can better support public engagement with the Park.
