Right To Be
Mission
Right To Be's mission is to build safe, inclusive public spaces by transforming the culture that perpetuates harassment and discrimination. We carry out this mission by building the power of everyday people to create safe and welcoming environments for all. Every day, we train hundreds of people to respond to, intervene in, and heal from harassment. We hold space for people experiencing harassment to share their stories for affirmation and support. And we prepare new leaders to create workplaces, schools, and communities around the world that are filled with humanity.
Vision
Right To Be envisions a world where everyone has the right to be their full selves in public space without fear of hate or harassment. We believe a world that respects our right to be isn’t some far-off destination. It’s something we’re building every day.
Goals
- 1.Right To Be has trained over 2 million people in bystander intervention. Our programming shows significant impacts in each participant's ability to recognize, respond to, and heal from harassment. We're committed to building this program, scaling training topics to respond to rising violence, and working with partners to deploy rapid-response trainings.
- 2.Right To Be is developing new programming for youth, recognizing the impacts of bullying/harassment at a formative age. We're working with educational leaders and students to address discrimination based on race/ethnicity, gender identities, sexuality, immigration status, religion, and more, equipping young people to lead against harassment. This program came from participant and teacher requests.
- 3.Right To Be is building our capacity to support our programming long term. That includes partnership building with nonprofits, creating anti-hate initiatives and rapid response programming for our communities. That also includes dedicated program development and iteration to ensure that we're meeting the needs of our communities, creating trainings that are relevant, timely, and impactful.
