    Mission

    The Schaap Center's mission is to connect and inspire communities through the visual and performing arts while demonstrating artistic, educational, and operational excellence. Our vision is to be a place for everyone, fostering a sense of belonging and providing opportunities for engagement in the performing and visual arts. The Schaap Center is a state-of-the-art performance and exhibition venue with year round programming by permanent program partners based in the Grosse Pointe Communities and throughout metro Detroit and visiting exhibitions through collaborations with the Detroit Institute of Arts and Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, among others. The Schaap Center will serve as a catalyst for the growth and participation in arts and culture in the Grosse Pointe and nearby Detroit communities. As an anchor in the Jefferson Avenue cultural corridor, the center will promote community-building, accessibility, and inclusion through the presentation of artistically exceptional experiences.
