We aim to enrich the greater Bay Area theatrical scene by celebrating inclusivity, representation, and the transformative power of the arts.

Goals

1. 1.Cultivate traditional Asian art forms: We are proud to continue the 100-year-old legacy of the Great Star Theater by hosting traditional Chinese operas with a variety of local performers as well as celebrities from China and Hong Kong. We are starting 2 new programs in furtherance of this goal: monthly free Kungfu movie nights for the Chinatown community, and annual community guzheng concerts.
2. 2.Revitalize the Chinatown community: Our work is deeply tied to the revitalization of Chinatown, a neighborhood rich in heritage. By bringing audiences and artists into the heart of this vibrant community, we are contributing to its economic and cultural renewal. The theater's success creates ripple effects, benefiting local businesses and inspiring pride in Chinatown's unique legacy.
3. 3.Nurture emerging artists from diverse backgrounds: We take pride in being a welcoming space for all—a venue where diverse voices are celebrated, including LGBTQ+ artists, Asian-American creators, and emerging local talent. Events like the 1st Bay Area Hanfu Contest, Muslim Comedy Tour, and community guzheng concerts exemplify our commitment to fostering inclusivity and representation.
