Mission

We integrate tutoring-style digital lessons with one-on-one reading coach sessions to pinpoint each student’s skill gaps and provide targeted instruction. By using a systematic decoding strategy aligned with the Science of Reading, students gain confidence in reading new words without guessing. Additionally, we recruit and train reading coaches and tutors to reinforce each lesson’s reading skills. The Future of Reading trains university students and community volunteers, including older adults, to serve as reading coaches. We use a digital lesson library of over 350 tutoring-style reading lessons for structured intervention. The reading coach engagement provides the key human factor that all students need to validate their efforts and build confidence] to achieve grade-level reading proficiency by the fourth grade.
