Vision
Doxie Rescue of Bucks County & NJ seeks to assist in the rescue, rehabilitation and education of and for the breed we hold so dear: the dachshund. We will continue to provide homes to animals in shelters, from hoarding situations and those who have lost their families, as well as those who need specialty medical care. Whenever possible we will offer education and a short term bridge for families in crisis. Throughout will will seek to educate the public about the medical needs and overall health issues concerning the dachshund dog. Our region includes New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland and while we will not adopt outside of this area we frequently reach out to assist dachshunds in need across the country during published crises through our breed partners. Operating for over 40 years, we help one doxie at a time solving one one problem at a time.
Goals
- 1.DRBC has continued to focus on the dogs in our region working with shelters, veterinary hospitals and private owners to help dachshunds, dachshund mixes and dachshund wanna-be's attain sound health and a safe and loving home environment. The number of dogs we have helped has grown at a rate of ~6% per year over the last 3 years.
- 2.We have established our own veterinary clinic, The Clinic at DRBC. Initially the clinic provided care to each dog that joined us reducing costs of care, but today the organization has begun an outreach to the community with heartworm testing, prevention and client education along with food support for families in need.
- 3.We have a new program that reaches out to smaller rescue groups to help them learn what we have developed. We share financial strategies, supply resourcing, internal protocol, vendor contacts and much much more. The theory is the we have a choice and while knowledge is power, it is far better to share that commodity and make it empowering!
