MASSCreative Inc.
Mission
MASSCreative works in partnership with a broad grassroots coalition to advance the advocacy learning, cross-sector alliances, and community organizing efforts necessary for a more equitable and inclusive arts, cultural, and creative sector for all in Massachusetts. Through advocacy trainings, continuous coalition building, community organizing, and convenings, MASSCreative’s programming fosters lasting leadership, confidence, and relationships that support sustained advocacy and organizing efforts. Together, our coalition aims to present a unified voice on cultural policy development and secure the public resources needed to sustain the sector and increase universal access to the arts.
Vision
Our organization envisions a Commonwealth where arts, culture, and creativity are an expected, well-funded, and valued part of everyday life, and are recognized as having a significant impact on building civic engagement and economically vibrant, equitable communities. We work to not only ensure that arts and culture are considered when important policy decisions are made at the state and local levels, but to empower creatives to feel confident in their ability to be civic leaders.
Goals
- 1.MASSCreative’s primary focus is advancing a cohesive statewide policy agenda that strengthens the creative and cultural ecosystem. Through legislative priorities shaped by those most affected, MASSCreative works to remove systemic barriers to equitable access and participation in arts and culture, fostering conditions in which creative communities can thrive and deliver greater public benefit.
- 2.MASSCreative supports regional and local advocacy not as a central organizer but as a strategic advisor and convener. Our regional and local efforts are most effective when implemented in partnership with an embedded organization or holding body that has established networks to sustain the work before, during, and after MASSCreative’s engagement.
- 3.By cultivating advocacy leadership and amplifying shared stories of impact, MASSCreative invests in people and narrative, ensuring that the creative sector is visible and valued in the public arena. MASSCreative aims to expand both the number and diversity of individuals who take action, connect with others, and engage in advocacy efforts.
