Arizona Theatre Matters

Mission

Arizona Theatre Matters creates theatre everyone can experience together. We produce free online theatre built from the start for Blind, Deaf, hearing, sighted, and audiences with disabilities. Our productions integrate rich audio description, Artistic Sign Language performed by Deaf artists, multilingual captions, virtuosic voice acting, and sound-rich performance as part of the creative work itself. We build accessibility into every show from the first creative decision. Our goal is to make excellent theatre that reaches people wherever they are, regardless of ability, income, location, age, or access to a theatre building.

Vision

Arizona Theatre Matters envisions a world where theatre is not limited by geography, income, age, ability, or access to a theatre building. We believe theatre can happen wherever people can listen, watch, sign, read, feel, and imagine together.

Goals

1.Expand Arizona Theatre Matters' free online theatre by producing accessible productions built from the beginning for Blind, Deaf, hearing, and sighted audiences, while increasing global reach, strengthening the digital archive, and improving audience access through multilingual captions, audio description, and Artistic Sign Language.
2.Develop educational toolkits, public conversations, workshops, and partnerships with schools, libraries, care-based settings, and community organizations to help audiences engage more deeply with accessible theatre.
3.Build a path toward a $1 million endowment or board-designated operating reserve to strengthen long-term financial sustainability and support Arizona Theatre Matters' mission of providing free, accessible theatre.
