Austin Science Education Foundation

Mission

The Austin Science Education Foundation (ASEF) promotes students' knowledge of and involvement in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math by preparing them and their teachers for the Greater Austin Regional Science and Engineering Fair, conducting the fair and supporting students selected to advance to subsequent competitions.

Vision

Ensure that students from elementary through high school who want to pursue in-depth, immersive STEM learning can do so and have all the support they need to be successful.

Goals

1.During the pandemic, our participation decreased by almost 50%. Schools are still understaffed and teachers are overwhelmed. We initiated a Teacher Support program in response to help them overcome barriers to participating in the fair.
2.A Student Mentor Program provides support in conducting science fair projects to 6th-12th grade school students from low-socioeconomic schools with limited resources & little home support.
3.We actively collaborate with other STEM organizations in our area to support each others work and to jointly enable K-12 students to explore their passion for science and engineering.
