Mission

Ready for Reading provides literacy, life skills and educational resources to children and adults in rural Rwanda. We foster a culture of reading and the idea that literacy is a powerful key to lifelong learning, unlocking the potential of preschoolers to grandparents inspiring them to dream big and hope for a future they never thought possible. Our vision is to ensure learning to read and write becomes the expectation not exception across Rwanda. Literacy Changes Everything.

Goals

1.RfR's proven replicable national model is a practical, low-cost/high-impact, sustainable approach, using existing organizations, libraries, community infrastructures & librarian training country-wide.
2.Students are a year behind, teachers face a huge academic task & no time for reading. Our Reading Riders, storytellers on bikes, go to schools with books, activities to keep kids reading and learning.
3.Chair of Community Libraries Forum create network of 54 existing libraries to speak with one voice demonstrating the crucial role libraries play nationally in the development of individuals and Rwanda
