Underdog Animal Rescue
Mission
Underdog Animal Rescue is a volunteer-driven, donor-funded organization dedicated to saving California’s at-risk dogs from overcrowded shelters, owner surrenders, and unnecessary euthanasia. As a foster-based rescue, we provide compassionate care, rehabilitation, and a safe haven for vulnerable and homeless dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and needs—including those with imperfections and special requirements. Through advocacy and education, we empower our community to create a brighter future for dogs, promoting responsible ownership and reducing shelter overpopulation. Together, we strive to ensure every dog gets the chance to thrive in a loving, permanent home.
Vision
We envision a future where every dog—no matter their age, breed, medical condition, or past—is valued, protected, and loved. A world where no dog is discarded, where shelters are no longer overburdened, and where compassionate communities rally together to give all animals a second chance at life. Through education, advocacy, and rescue, we aim to break the cycle of neglect and overpopulation by building a society that chooses adoption first, prioritizes spay/neuter, and believes every life has worth. Our vision is not just about saving dogs today—it’s about creating lasting change that ensures every underdog has a family, a safe space, and a future filled with dignity and care.
Goals
- 1.Facility Acquisition: To provide a safe haven for medical cases, emergencies, and dogs needing longer-term while dramatically reducing our dependence on foster home availability. We project saving 2,000 lives annually (vs 400 without our own facility). Mobile Low-cost Clinic: To provide spay/neuter services to the public and address the root cause of pet overpopulation.
- 2.Secure sustainable funding: Medical care, transport, and supplies are costly—especially for neglected or urgent dogs. Ongoing donor support helps us plan ahead, say "yes" more often, and provide every rescued dog with the care they
- 3.Educate the public: We promote responsible pet ownership through outreach, highlighting the value of adoption, the challenges of raising puppies, and the importance of spay/neuter to break the cycle of neglect and overpopulation.
