Cure GM1 Foundation

Mission

Cure GM1 Foundation is dedicated to advancing research and drug development for GM1 gangliosidosis, a rare lysosomal storage disease affecting the brain and spinal cord, with over 50% of those affected dying before age five. Founded by parents of children with GM1, the foundation's mission is to fund research for a cure. As the only nonprofit entirely dedicated to GM1 research, the foundation organizes research symposiums and hosts global family conferences, building community and research momentum.

Goals

1.Continue to advance newborn screening for GM1 through newborn screening pilot studies and advocacy for modernization and increased screening of infantile fatal conditions whether there is an approved treatment or now.
2.Increase enrollment in the GM1 census patient registry and continue to support natural history data collection, aggregation, sharing, and publication
3.Expand the capacity of Cure GM1 to garner more attention from the general public with projects to increase donations, improve communications, marketing, and technical capacity
