    African American Heritage Preservation Foundation Inc.

    Mission

    The African American Heritage Preservation Foundation, Inc. (AAHPF), a not for profit 501©(3) organization, that is dedicated to the preservation of African American history and historical sites was established in June 1994 by E. Renée Ingram. AAHPF has been engaged in activities that include the preservation, maintenance, and awareness of endangered or little-known African American historical sites. In 2020, the African American Heritage Preservation Foundation developed a free mobile app, African American Sites, which has more than 2,000 sites that includes African American museums, heritage trails, military sites, National Historic Landmarks and Monuments, National Register of Historic Places and endangered African American Historic Places throughout the US and Territories. In 2023, the African American Heritage Preservation Foundation, Inc. provided a $10,000 grant to the Upton Planning Committee for the restoration of the home of former Congressman Parren J. Mitchell, located in Baltimore’s Historic Upton Neighborhood. This grant is part of the African American Endangered Sites Fund pilot matching grants program launched in 2023.
