Mission

Founded in 1999, Amazon Conservation works to unite science, innovation, and people to protect the Amazon – the greatest wild forest on Earth. We envision a thriving Amazon that sustains the full diversity of life. For more than 25 years, Amazon Conservation has been at the forefront of conservation, working on the ground at the headwaters of the Amazon in Peru and Bolivia. Our focus on protecting wild places, empowering local people, and putting science and technology to work has been shaped by the people and land where we began.

2.Building a Forest-Based Economy: Building on our successes to date in Peru and Bolivia, we will broaden our impact by expanding the geographic reach to Acre, Brazil, strengthening supply chains, replicating best practices, and carrying out focused policy advocacy to enhance the economic viability and environmental resilience of key forest products and climate-smart, forest-based economies.
3.Driving Policy Change: Since threats to the Amazon don’t stop at borders, solutions can’t either. With our scientific expertise, local experience, and growing partnership network, we advocate for national and Amazon-wide policies that prioritize effective, science-based solutions to hold governments accountable to conservation commitments and secure stronger protections for forests and people.
