Affordable Homeownership Foundation Inc.

Our mission is to help the economically vulnerable veterans, seniors, youth aging out of foster care, disabled and homeless individuals in the very low, low to moderate income area of our region achieve financial literacy, attain housing stability and or homeownership, participate in the American dream, and contribute to more stable, vital neighborhoods. To create this transition, we offer advocacy, education, counseling, and work to increase the availability of safe, decent, affordable housing opportunities.

Goal Three: Increase Grant funding by ramping up our grant writing and insuring more money through donations.

Our organization has made sure that anyone in Management keeps current on continuing education and management training made available to us on an ongoing basis. Management is constantly forging partnerships with other non-profit entities so that we may increase our exposure and increase the number of clients that we serve.

We are part of the Continuum of Care which allows us to mobilize through many different channels and avenues. Being part of the Continuum of Care allows us to be constantly top of mind when it comes to the populations that we serve and allows us grant opportunities that we may not have had previously. We see what partnering with other non-profits can do to help the most vulnerable of populations and change their lives for the better. We belong to a national organization called NCRC which helps us advocate for the vulnerable populations and is a larger non-profit that helps us reach our goals with very low, low and moderate income families and individuals.

The last year was a challenge due to the global pandemic and how it affected not only our staff but our clients. We had to develop new ways to fund raise, we had to develop new ways to see and counsel clients, we had to develop programs and counseling virtually and in-person that did not put any of us at risk. When building we were faced with many delays due to product shortages, increased costs, long permit times. We established looking at new innovative ways to build homes that were cost effective yet green and affordable that would stand the test of time yet meet local building codes. We had to understand that the families and individuals that were becoming homeless due to no fault of their own needed training on how to sustain with job layoffs and evictions and develop alternative thinking to the problems and issues that were changing daily and find creative yet affordable solutions. Last year was difficult and sometimes it felt impossible but with that comes growth, personal and business and we refused to accept failure both for us and our clients. We are the teachers, the shoulder that families and individuals seek to find the help and advice they need in order to survive so we had to be strong to have us help them.
