Mission

Austin Jazz Workshop’s Mission: To encourage youth participation in school music programs through campus and public jazz performances, to bring the American Jazz heritage into underserved communities, and to promote a vibrant cultural arts environment by employing local musicians of diverse ages, origins, and ethnicities.

Vision

The Austin Jazz Workshop (AJW) exists to encourage young people to realize their creative potential

Goals

1.The AJW serves every central Texas elementary school in the Austin, Round Rock, and Manor ISDs with classroom workshops and assembly performances for grades 3 to 5.
2.The AJW instituted the EMJATA (Emerging Jazz Talent) Program to provide performance opportunities for middle/high school age students to perform with seasoned pros in a supportive public environment.
3.The AJW instituted the annual AISD Jazz Jubilee for Austin elementary students to perform with the AJW before an audience of parents and peers. On hiatus since COVID, projected for restart in 2023.
