Maverick Foundation

Mission

We develop mentoring relationships with and provide incentive-based scholarships for eighth graders entering high school who are determined to reach their full potential in all areas of life and possess a passion for community service in partnership with the nationally recognized Congressional Award Program.

Vision

"The whole trick to life is to open your eyes and see what is going on around you" is the quote from Dan McGuire who is one of the founding inspirational persons for The Maverick Foundation. Each scholarship recipient writes an essay on this quote, and we challenge ourselves to see where we can do good to our great potential.

Goals

1.Develop Document Retention, Conflict of Interest, and Whistleblower policies that will be shared with our Board and incorporated into our By-laws this year.
2.Engage our kids with "The Young Entrepreneurs Academy" that is a national program to provide high school students the opportunity to develop their own business plan.
3.Engage with the Staten Island Non-Profit Group to maximize efficiency and collaboration with community non-profit organizations.
