A Hand Up Ministry
Mission
We offer an in depth 12 month residential recovery program for men and women in Dade County. We have a 12 month residential recovery program for men in Whitfield County. We operate a 12 step recovery and transition support for previously incarcerated individuals in Walker County. We have staff members that teach the only in-jail recovery programs for Dade, Walker and Whitfield County. We operate the hope line where individuals can find help with services or just a compassionate ear to listen.
Vision
Our mission is: To connect with Broken People, who with a Hand Up can find Hope for a Better Life. We are a faith based organization dedicated to assisting individuals in overcoming various forms of captivity, including physical, emotional, mental, sexual, and spiritual challenges. Our organization specializes in supporting men and women affected by chemical addiction, such as dependence on drugs and alcohol. We offer a secure and structured environment that incorporates the principles of Celebrate Recovery, scripture, prayer, fellowship, and skill building employment. Our program equips participants with essential spiritual and emotional resources and fosters personal development through a focus on building a relationship with Christ. The overarching aim is to empower individuals to achieve lasting freedom from addiction and freedom to be the sons and daughters, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers they were always called to be.
Goals
- 1.If we doubled or even tripled our current capacity, we could fill those beds within a few weeks easily with our current wait list. But, that also means more staff to account for the increased number of participants. We want to expand and grow what we are already good at.
- 2.We currently operate the only 12 step addiction program inside the jail of 3 surrounding counties. We want to expand to additional counties for in-jail 12 step recovery programs, but need the staff and resources to make that happen.
- 3.We have a desire to expand our occupational rehabilitation for job training, not only for our participants but for the community as a whole. We intend to accomplish this through community partnerships that specialize in vocational training and other professional community resources.
