Totem Star

Mission

Totem Star supports a diverse community of young recording artists learning music and life skills through mentorship and meaningful relationships. Our work in the studio and on the stage fosters growth in collaboration, leadership, and self-identity.

Vision

Totem Star envisions a more just society where all young people have access to music learning opportunities and youth voice is championed in support of healthy, engaged, and productive young people using music as a universal language.

Goals

1.Performance: Youth perform at 4 showcases and open mics, as well as paid external performances, each year where youth share their artistic voice and take creative risks.
2.Mentorship: Youth book studio sessions to compose and record original songs. They can also participate in workshops and panels in areas such as business management, music licensing and songwriting.
3.Leadership Development: Totem Star Leadership Committee (TLC) meets monthly to provide recommendations to our organization on program design, organizational policies, and more.
