Bookgive Inc.
Mission
BookGive, founded in 2018, envisions the highest quality of life for all Denver metro residents. Our mission is to increase book ownership and access by delivering free books to nonprofits, schools, agencies and individuals throughout the seven county Denver metro region in order to achieve that vision.
Vision
Our goals include broad community outreach throughout Denver to partner with organizations for which free books would enhance their important work. We believe literacy is a basic human right. Reading is a necessary skill that leads to greater opportunity while opening windows into other lives and imaginings, increasing understanding and empathy. Book ownership and access are affiliated with higher high school graduation rates, decreased levels of violence in both the home and community, and improved physical and emotional health status. We are proud to contribute to outcomes like these by delivering free books to our neighbors. BookGive has delivered over 400,000 books to date.
Goals
- 1.To secure funds which will be will allocated towards the expenses necessary to fulfill our mission: facilities management, supplies and volunteer management. Funds will be used to maintain consistent hours of operation, retain volunteers, coordinate book donations, sort and curate book requests, community outreach, book deliveries and supplies.
- 2.Currently BookGive serves anywhere from 80-100 partner organizations per month. We would like to increase that number to about 150 organizations per month, which would maximize the abilities of our volunteer core and the space available at our location. We want to expand to make sure we are providing a balance of services across each of the zip codes in the 7-county metro Denver region.
- 3.This goal dovetails with goal #2, in that we hope to meet the needs of more partner organizations. One of the biggest requests we receive is for Spanish and Spanish/English books. Identifying funding sources specific to securing books that meet that specific request is paramount to meeting the needs of new partner organizations.
