Walk N Rollers Inc.
Mission
Walk ‘n Rollers encourages safe walking and biking amongst children and adults in Los Angeles and surrounding counties. Through comprehensive education and encouragement programs, Safe Routes to School programming, community safety events, and fun and engaging safety classes, Walk ‘n Rollers works to increase the health and wellness of families through regular exercise and contributing to cleaner air for all. Walk ‘n Rollers accomplishes this by engaging students, parents, administrators, civic and business leaders, and community residents through community-based campaigns that encourages families to rethink their commutes to school, by walking, biking, carpooling and using transit more often.
Vision
To create a community environment where children and parents alike are comfortable using alternative modes of transportation, whenever they choose. We aim to educate, train and encourage people of all ages to walk and ride their bikes more often, especially to and from school. When children learn how to safely and responsibly walk and bike to school, they add activity to their day and help reduce traffic and pollution around their school. Students also learn life lessons like responsibility, good decision making, traffic safety and community awareness. By building confidence in reducing dependence on cars, we create healthier, more sustainable communities.
Goals
- 1.Walk ’n Rollers aims to grow its programs to reach more students and their families in historically disinvested communities, build strategic partnerships with organizations working on active transportation and related mobility campaigns, and develop long term programs that allow us to support communities more deeply, consistently, and sustainably.
- 2.Walk ’n Rollers aims to strengthen its organizational capacity by diversifying funding streams and investing in staff, systems, and technical tools that support program growth, partnerships, and long-term sustainability. These investments will improve coordination, data tracking, communications, and financial management so we can serve more families and communities effectively.
- 3.Walk ’n Rollers seeks to strengthen and expand our advocacy for safe, equitable walking, biking, and trail access by elevating youth voices, partnering with community groups, and engaging in local decision-making processes that shape transportation, public space, and environmental health.
