ABMF covers their travel expenses to attend national and international conferences and to visit military bases, installations, facilities, and military family events where they engage people to become a part of the ABMF network. Over the course of the past 12-18 months, ABMF has realized about 2,000 new members to the JOIN program, and at least 50 new prospects for the Corporate Partner Program. The lived experience gleaned by these two individuals running these programs has grown their own capabilities much to the benefit of ABMF.

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
ABMF was established in 2019, was able to do little during the Covid-19 pandemic, and hired an executive director and began program operations in 2021. While still in "start-up" mode, we have built a core working group of 10 people; established eight separate programs that fuel the mission; and attracted 153 donors; including significant Corporate Partners FedEx, Boeing, Capgemini, Ducommun and Troutman Pepper. Our donors have helped to fund public events at 25 or more American military cemeteries or memorials overseas. Because we all work remotely, we have developed a culture of mutual respect that shows itself in prompt meeting attendance; shared information and networks; regularly scheduled meetings to strategize, plan and monitor programs; and a reliance on sharing credit for good ideas and successes. This remote model relies on personalities, aptitudes and comfort-levels with working with individuals who are innovative, have excellent time management skills, have high levels of self-confidence and are personally accountable. No whining.
