Mission

Exit12 is a contemporary dance company committed to creating and performing works of high cultural significance that inspire conversations about world differences and the lasting effects of violence and conflict on communities, families, and individuals. Through movement workshops, performances, and presentations, Exit12 heals the veteran and military-connected community, educates civilians, and advocates for veterans issues. Co-founded by US Marine Iraq War Veteran and his professional ballerina wife, Exit12 Dance Company began as a way for its founders to process their personal military experience through choreography. Today, Exit12 investigates the military experience by exploring the service member, the family, the perceived enemy, shared humanity, homecomings, and trauma.

Vision

Exit12 envisions a world where the arts bridge the divide between military and civilian life, transforming understanding, empathy, and healing across communities. Through powerful dance works and immersive experiences, we illuminate the shared humanity within stories of service, sacrifice, and resilience—sparking dialogue, inspiring compassion, and fostering a culture where veterans, military families, and civilians connect, heal, and thrive together.

Goals

1.Exit12’s Strategic Plan set a goal of two major performances and one NYC studio showcase annually. To support this, we’re expanding public programming nationwide, reaching more communities and audiences. Building on past success with universities, we’ll target curators, arts venues, and humanities departments.
2.Exit12’s engaged participants have expressed a desire for more workshops. We’re building a weekly movement workshop in NYC for the military community to meet this need.
3.This past year, we invested in an accountant and software to improve financial practices and reporting. We now aim to expand these investments to strengthen administration in areas like project management and CRM.
