Protego Foundation

Mission

The Protego Foundation's mission is to harness the passion and positivity of fandom to promote animal rights and welfare and to create a community of people advocating for the compassionate and humane treatment for animals by: Engaging in charitable activities involving the promotion of animal rights and welfare worldwide; generating both monetary and non-monetary support for non-partisan, non-religious charitable organizations that provide direct support to their communities and advocate for change in the area of animal rights and welfare; and building an environment of giving, creativity, and passion for improving the lives of animals.

Vision

Our goal is to see fantasy fandoms be more considerate of the rights, feelings, and treatment of all creatures, regardless of their species, size, or magical ability.

Goals

1.We are aiming to strengthen our most successful programs by devoting both volunteer time and financial resources that we had originally been putting towards programs that haven't been as successful or are less urgent.
2.We hope to increase the number of change-making campaigns we do each year (petitions, pledges, educational events, etc.) and open them up to different fandoms than we have focused on in the past.
3.We are working on a strategic planning initiative to help us navigate our current issue of volunteer turnover and burnout. Our organization is entirely volunteer-led, so figuring out how to keep happiness and motivation high during such a dire time in the history of our planet will be key to helping us weather the storm of having fewer volunteers than usual.
