Books for Classrooms

Mission

Books for Classrooms works to improve literacy of children from pre-school through 12th grade by providing FREE, high-quality, relevant, age-appropriate, educator-evaluated books and materials that encourage an understanding of diversity, peace, social justice, conflict resolution, and the environment. Our primary beneficiaries are children in Pima County, Arizona Title 1 district public schools. Adopted 7/21/23

Vision

All children should see themselves in books in their classrooms.

Goals

1.Continue working with Superintendent of county schools to reach out to more Title 1 school districts to provide books to classrooms and libraries.
2.Expanded services by placing relevant book collections in counselor's and social workers offices for them to share with students and parents. Provided specific book collections to music, art, tech classrooms that serve multiple groups of students throughout the day.
3.An opportunity arose from previous work with Native American tribe to begin publishing bilingual books to support cultural/native language retention. Now have seven books to publish.
