Vision

This beautiful greenspace is situated at the intersections of several neighborhoods, and we are committed to caring for a park that is welcoming to all.

Goals

1. 1.Mellon Park is located on land that once housed the estates of wealthy individuals in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The beautiful trees and gardens require more care than can be provided with public funds. FOMP advocates for tree care, provides appropriate tree care when possible, and encourages and educates visitors to create a strong base of support for this beautiful greenspace.
2. 2.FOMP has learned that the neighbors around Mellon Park don't understand the needs of the trees and historical sites in the park, and has begun to provide programming that will help educate visitors of all ages about what's needed to maintain a healthy urban park.
3. 3.On the last Saturday of April, FOMP hosts an annual Arbor Day Celebration in Mellon Park. This is a fun and educational event, and it has grown larger each year. A new high school internship program was added in 2024. We have also offered tree tours at other times of the year, and are always working to create partnerships and develop programs with neighborhood schools and organizations.
