Tabula Rasa Dance Theater advocates for the disadvantaged through the universal language of dance. Our work elicits powerful responses from audiences, motivating them to examine their values and reflect on how they can help repair our damaged society. By performing in public parks as well as legitimate theaters, TRDT raises awareness about art and activism in multiple communities. We charge 63 cents for some tickets so that people at all income levels can experience live contemporary dance. Sixty-three cents is the average hourly wage of incarcerated individuals in New York State. The company does outreach to formerly incarcerated individuals in re-entry programs, such as GoSo.
