A Book A Day

Mission

TO ENGAGE THE ARTS TO EXPAND LITERACY AND PROMOTE INTERDISCIPLINARY AND LIFE-LONG LEARNING AMONG CHILDREN IN UNDERSERVED AND DIVERSE COMMUNITIES.

Vision

Our vision is a world that values children and their communities, supports their learning, and provides access to culturally authentic and representative art and literature.

Goals

1.In response to community needs, ABaD seeks out new opportunities for partnership and develops new programs, such as Bonding Through Books, which launched in late 2024, and our inaugural Children’s Day event, which will bring together local artists, authors, families, and nonprofit partners in summer 2025.
2.As we have expanded our partnerships, we have been able to reach even more children and families in some of the neediest areas of the city – and we look forward to sustaining these relationships in future work.
3.We are working toward increasing access to multilingual literacy resources by bringing the percentage of multilingual titles we donate from 35% to 45% of the 4000+ brand-new books we donate annually.
