Bright Minds Processing Inc.
Mission
We are a group of parents, special education teachers, Doctors, psychologists, councilors and professionals passionate about raising awareness for children who have a "hidden Learning Disability". Visual and Auditory Processing Disorders are hidden and not recognized and one in four kids have it. You start seeing in in children in 2nd grade when they start to read. Visual Processing Disorder (VPD) is when a child reads a page and can't comprehend anything that they have read. Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) is when a child only catches the first or second word and does not process the rest. So the federal Government acknowledge that these learning disabilities fall under the Vision and Hearing Impaired disability act and so therefore need to be addressed in school so that these kids get the services that they need. Unfortunately each State is different but not one State tests the children for this and so therefore they struggle at school and eventually are asked to stay back a year. This is humiliating to children and then starts the anxiety and bad behavior. Most of these children are misdiagnosed and usually get the lapel of ADHD or Dyslexia. Bright Minds Processing is a passionate group that wants to raise awareness in schools including the teachers, in a documentary and ultimately into Colleges where more Doctors can choose to specialize in helping these children. Given the opportunity and children are tested by an Audiologist and Optometrists that specializes in Processing Disorders, within 6 months of therapy, these children will thrive at school. When they complete this program, their grades go above grade level and their confidence comes back. They are no longer different and are treated the same as every other child at school. Bright Minds is dedicated to spread the word and our mission Nationwide and eventually World wide. If a child hates reading and is getting an F in Language Arts, then they have VPD and/Or APD. Usually if you have one you have the other and it is hereditary so one of the parents will have it. It does not matter how old the person is, they can still go to the same Doctors and be able to read and hear just like Children. Remember it is 1 in 4 children so therefore 1-4 adults.
