Battery to Bridges Coalition Inc.

Mission

To promote environmental stewardship, public recreation, equitable access to green space by planning, developing, and maintaining a public waterfront park along the East River Estuary. The park shall serve as a community resource for education, ecological preservation and recreational use, with a focus on restoring natural habitats, improving climate resilience, and fostering inclusive engagement with the waterfront for the benefit of all residents and visitors.

Vision

We are actively working with the City of New York to create a continuous waterfront park in lower Manhattan alongside and outboard in the East River.

Goals

1.To build a Seaport Recreation Center just north of the Tin Building. To "green" the water's edge from the Battery Maritime Building up to Montgomery Street in Lower Manhattan.
2.The NYC Parks Department is underfunded. We will study existing and future conditions in order to maximize uses adjacent to the East River for a capital program funding park purposes, programming and maintenance.
3.Engage in and inform our constituency about resiliency planning for Lower Manhattan.
