Start 1 Spark's mission is to eliminate the financial costs of school extracurriculars so economically disadvantaged students can participate in their school community.

Vision

Supported by a diverse array of funders and a cadre of enthusiastic volunteers dedicated to student success, Start 1 Spark will be a driving force in strengthening middle school communities so all students can participate in school extracurriculars throughout the Richmond region.

Goals

1.Build a resilient and diversified funding base that ensures stability, fuels innovation, and sustains long-term growth.
2.Evolve our leadership and organizational structure to ensure strategic governance, operational resilience, and long-term sustainability.
3.Amplify our story to ignite greater awareness and connection—building a communications strategy that inspires engagement, strengthens partnerships, and elevates Start 1 Spark’s voice across all audiences.
