A world where every person in prison can reach for a book and be reminded of their own dignity, potential, and humanity. Freedom Reads envisions every cellblock in America transformed by beautiful libraries and vibrant communities of readers, places where hope is restored, identity reclaimed, and the possibility of redemption becomes part of daily life

Goals

1. 1.Expand Freedom Libraries nationwide, opening at least 200 new handcrafted libraries each year to transform more prison cellblocks into spaces of hope, dignity, and learning, increasing access to books and community for incarcerated people across security levels and geographies.
2. 2.Deepen the impact of Freedom Libraries by collecting and analyzing feedback from incarcerated readers and staff to refine design, content, and installation practices, ensuring the program’s core model remains powerful and scalable as we reach new facilities.
3. 3.Strengthen organizational infrastructure to support national growth — expanding skilled staff, refining fabrication and logistics, and advancing partnerships with Departments of Corrections to ensure sustainable delivery and long-term success of Freedom Reads’ mission.
