    Mission

    Our mission: to document, restore, and maintain the Lawton House, and to provide the community with an educational and historical museum that preserves the history of the Lawton family and the Treadwell St. community. As stewards of the Lawton legacy, the heirs and descendants are seeking to: ​- Revitalize and restore structure; major work is required - Secure funding to undertake repairs and maintain the property in perpetuity - Ensure smooth successions for the future - Complement the Orangeburg community revitalization efforts especially in light of the Railroad Corner Redevelopment project; collaborate with city, state, university, non-profit, funding and other partners - Develop a plan of action which addresses the goals listed above and guide our work in developing sustainable, affordable and impactful results. ​
