Mission

Black Moon Wild Canid Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Rockingham County, North Carolina, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and lifelong care of wolfdogs and wild canids who cannot survive in the wild or in domestic settings. The organization provides permanent, trauma-informed sanctuary to animals displaced by human expansion, the exotic pet trade, and irresponsible breeding practices. Through public education, ecological stewardship, and the cultivation of Indigenous-informed relationships with land and predator species, Black Moon Wild Canid Sanctuary works to shift cultural attitudes toward coexistence, challenge colonial frameworks of wildlife management, and advocate for policy that honors the lives of wild canids as intrinsically valuable — not as resources to be managed, exploited, or erased.
