BIG HOOF FOUNDATION
Mission
Help Save the Gentle Giants — Support Big Hoof Horses At the Big Hoof Foundation, our mission is to rescue and care for Draft Horses who have spent their lives in service, only to be discarded, neglected, or sent to slaughter once they’re no longer able to work. These gentle giants deserve more. Our team of passionate volunteers and dedicated board members works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide safe, loving retirement pastures for these majestic animals. We’re committed not only to their physical healing, but also to restoring their trust in humanity. Many of the horses we rescue have serious medical issues and cannot be re-homed. For them, our sanctuary becomes their forever home where they receive the highest standard of care, including veterinary support and alternative therapies, thanks to our incredible partners in animal healthcare. Our Mission To rescue, rehabilitate, and provide lifelong sanctuary for Draft Horses suffering from abuse, neglect, or abandonment. To ensure every rescued horse receives compassionate care and appropriate medical treatment for a healthy, pain-free life. To raise public awareness of the mistreatment and slaughter of Draft Horses, and advocate for their humane treatment. To host and support events that educate the community about the plight of working horses and promote responsible animal stewardship. To develop an equine therapy program to support individuals living with mental health challenges, using the healing power of horse-human connection. To collaborate with organizations and individuals who share our vision, working together to end the cycle of abuse and neglect facing these noble creatures. Every Draft Horse deserves more than a life of labor followed by suffering. With your support, we can give them peace, dignity, and the care they deserve.
