1. 1.To build and maintain a worldwide community of music educators. This includes supporting diverse music education practices, promoting qualified and respected music teachers, and ensuring that music education programs reflect a variety of musical traditions and learner needs
2. 2.To foster respect for international and intercultural understanding and cooperation. ISME emphasizes the importance of the world's diverse musical traditions and the role they play in intercultural learning, peacebuilding, and mutual respect
3. 3.To promote access to quality music learning opportunities for all people. This includes working to remove barriers, supporting a wide range of music education approaches, and aligning with initiatives like the International Music Council’s Five Music Rights
