Vision

Stuttering is more than a speech disorder—it’s a deeply personal experience that can affect confidence, connection, and self-worth. The National Stuttering Association supports, connects, and empowers people who stutter through through approximately 150 chapters nationwide. As the largest nonprofit of its kind, we foster self-acceptance, reduce stigma, and build inclusive communities where every voice matters. Our programs—led by people who stutter—include local support groups, national conferences, youth and family events, and public education. We also equip speech-language pathologists with resources and training to better support clients who stutter, and we collaborate on research to deepen understanding. We believe people who stutter don’t need to be “fixed”—they need to be heard, supported, and celebrated.

Goals

1. 1.Provide consistent support for children who stutter and their families through monthly chapter meetings and regional events.
2. 2.Reduce stigma and increase self-confidence among youth who stutter.
3. 3.Expand outreach to underrepresented communities and increase bilingual participation.
