Friends of San Francisco Animal Care and Control

Mission

Friends of San Francisco Animal Care and Control FSFACC is the only organization dedicated to raising funds for the City's municipal, open-admission animal shelter and its rescue partners in order to enhance or establish programs and services that benefit animals, and serve and educate the public.

Vision

A San Francisco where all animals, wild and domestic, thrive in health, safety, and dignity.

Goals

1.Friends funds the shelter’s Behavior and Training program, providing assessment, training, socialization, enrichment, and field trips to improve animals’ well-being and adoptability. Support also covers expert consultants and volunteer training in senior care, shy animal handling, puppy/kitten care, clicker games, and cat handling.
2.The shelter’s success is strengthened by partnerships with nonprofit rescue groups. Friends provides grants to Bay Area partners serving cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. These grants help cover training and medical costs and keep the rescue community engaged, expanding the shelter’s adopter network.
3.Because city funding does not include a marketing department, Friends supports outreach through special projects, signage, banners, and print and digital materials. Friends also funds ACC’s website design and hosting, creating an interactive, community-focused site with accessible social media features.
