Vision

With more than 100,000 supporters, Death Penalty Focus (DPF) is one of the world’s largest organizations dedicated solely to ending capital punishment. For more than 30 years, we have worked to raise public awareness, build coalitions, and educate policymakers about the death penalty and its alternatives.

Goals

1. 1.DPF plays a leadership role in the abolition of the death penalty in California. In collaboration with the California anti-death penalty coalition partners and organizations, DPF develops abolition policy and messaging. DPF forges connections in the CA Legislature and identifies and focuses legislative leaders against the death penalty.
2. 2.DPF delivers facts, videos, opinions, and information about the death penalty. DPF promotes fact-based news, announces abolition-based events, and educational opportunities for students, civil rights workers, and community organizations through a monthly newsletter, blogs, and frequent emails. We have increased our online communications, thereby extending the reach and impact of our messaging.
3. 3.DPF supports legislative reform that will decrease the number of death sentences and support appeals for resentencing. Also, DPF publishes reports of exoneration, miscarriages of justice, scheduled executions, and injustice. DPF provides timely information about the death penalty, offers prominent spokespeople to the media and public, and submits amicus briefs for relevant court cases.
