Vision

Our goal is to acquire and establish permanently protected long-term wildlife sanctuaries and gopher tortoise preserves. All of the land we will steward will be protected from future development by conservation easements that will run with the land in perpetuity. Initially our organization will rely on donations of both land and funding, but over time by collecting tortoise recipient fees we will eventually become fully self-sustaining financially. We are working with Animal Adventures to develop Wildlife Education Centers on as many of our Sanctuaries as we can. Our first being the Suwannee County Wildlife Education Center in Live Oak, FL in 2026. Our long term goal is to permanently protect over 10,000 acres by 2035.

Goals

1. 1.Keys to our success depend on education of the importance of the gopher tortoise to the 350+ species effected by their presence. Our newest focus is to build Wildlife Education Centers on the lands we steward, for children, teenagers, and other students to visit and learn from licensed instructors from the Amazing Animals program. Teaching the young now will serve tortoises well in the future.
2. 2.We accept financial donations as well as direct land donations for stewardship of the land and animals. The second saves us from buying the land while still allowing us to protect the wildlife long-term. Focusing on land donations with Habitat Legacy Partners who work with conservation investors that place land under conservation easements and then donate the land to us for permanent stewardship.
3. 3.We have been able to accomplish a lot in a very short period of time with our volunteer staff. We now look to fine tune our mission by investing in key staff to better coordinate promoting our initiatives as well as improve systems and methods of communication with our supporters. Now that we have funded land acquisitions, we will invest in grant writers to solidify larger funding sources.
