The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
We have focused our energy toward building a robust, impactful, and sustainable organization resourced and prepared to combat the oil and gas industry. Rooted in our values, which we developed collectively as a staff, we have been advancing global campaign strategies commensurate with what is needed to bring about a just and equitable phase-out of fossil fuels, while also deepening our focus on movement building and solidarity. We intend to continue deepening our program work while also expanding our global reach, and we are looking to increasingly support partners in the Global South and in fossil fuel impacted communities.
We have also worked to create a sustainable, healthy work environment to be able to support this work over the long term. To meet the huge opportunities for campaign work, demands on our time and resources, and our expanded geographical scope, we have plans to have 30 staff globally by the end of 2022, building from 20 currently. We recognize that we must build and strengthen our organizational and administrative systems to effectively hire and onboard these new staff members, and we must increase and maintain strong support for our staff in order to sustain this challenging and ambitious scope of work.
We have spent time restructuring our organization to meet the demands being placed on it and to provide a strong foundation for the future. We are committed to continue strengthening organizational and administrative systems and policies, including human resources, finance and budget, program planning, operations, and governance. In terms of staff support, we want to move towards stronger management systems, ensuring sustainable work loads and hours, staff trainings, professional development, and additional support for doing this work, which often takes a mental and emotional toll. We believe that strong systems, staff support, and deliberate growth will help us to be strong and effective in our campaign work and the ever .
